Construction Lead (VP)- Project Development
Construction Lead (VP)- Project Development Overall Function & Accountability Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President- Project Development, the position is chiefly responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong and competent team of construction professionals in monitoring and co-ordinating the main contractor and various trade subcontractors in completing the project with satisfactory quality and supports, formulating the overall construction issues with design team/operator/consultants and establishing quality control system.
Major Roles & Responsibilities - Establishing, Maintaining and Managing A strong & Competent Construction Team
- Seek and employ Senior Project Manager, Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers for the Construction Team
- Lead a team of professionals to ensure all construction works are according to pre-formulated construction team in effectively serving Project Leads on the development projects
- Supervise, guide and coach the SPM on construction (fitout) to provide support to the construction (fitout) team in effectively serving Project Leads on the development projects
- Supporting with and Providing Necessary services to Project Leads
- Assist Project Leads in establishing needs for their projects and assign the appropriate talents to form the Construction teams to serve the projects
- Assign tasks to the subordinates, monitor and supervise them in completing their assignment within schedule
- Assist in value engineering of consultants’ design and recommend cost effective source of alternative suppliers, construction details without compromising the quality of completed works
- Work closely with SPM (Quality & Safety) in setting up and implementing quality and safety plans
- Developing & Overseeing Key Processes on Construction
- Monitor and supervise the main contractor and various trade contractors in completing the works with satisfactory workmanship and with the planned schedule including imitating meetings, coordinating with design team, operators and consultants
- Direct, formulate and monitor the overall construction program including interfacing schedule among various trades, statutory inspection schedules and handover schedules to operator
- Review and comment on contractors’ submissions including shop drawings, programs, materials submissions, method statements and progress reports
- Set up quality control systems including monitoring the performance of the consultants’ resident team in controlling the workmanship of the contractors.
- Fostering Internal Communication, Transparency and teamwork
- Resolve, and guide its SPMs to resolve, positively and professionally issues on construction and progress with design teams, operator and consultants; and alert, if necessary, Director- Project Development for key issues
- Keep close and regular communication with Project Leads as well as other functional Discipline Leads to achieve transparency and teamwork
- Provide regular progress actions/ recovery planning
- Co-ordinate with Admin. & HR Liaison Discipline on imported labour issues
Attributes & Qualification - Master or Bachelor Degree in Building Architecture, Interior Design and/ or Construction/ Project Management or equivalence
- Minimum 25 years experience in building construction
- Minimum 20 years experience as Construction Manager in contractor or developer
- Demonstration of good communication and leadership skills
- Experience in managing large scale hotels and casino projects including fitting out works
- Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
