F&B product knowledge, experience dealing with Chef/Bar/Restaurant Manager on daily purchase order.

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations for purchasing, new product sourcing and/or supplier quality management resources. This position is also responsible for all aspects of supplier management to ensure cost-effective products and services are provided to the Hospitality businesses with consistent quality and acceptable delivery levels maintained. Responsible for maintaining and achieving appropriate metrics (i.e. cost avoidance, cost savings, etc.) The Purchasing Manager will report to Director of Supply Chain.

The Assistant Purchasing Manager will report to Purchasing Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To drive the development and implementation of supply chain management techniques to enhance supplier performance at the lowest overall cost to the business.
  • To negotiate and control purchasing contracts to provide cost and logistical benefits.
  • To ensure negotiated contracts are implemented to maximum effect.
  • Manage, identify, coach and develop team to ensure performance and succession requirements are met.  This would include participating in performance reviews, identifying development needs, and sourcing appropriate programs through Human Resources.
  • To manage a small team to ensure a professional purchasing service is given to all business units
  • To identify cost reduction opportunities and work with business units to achieve their implementation.
  • Manage the staff roster to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in line with financial year budget forecasts.
  • To identify and implement improvements to the purchasing administration systems in order to reduce the incidences of fragmented spend and overall transaction cost
  • Ensure Occupational Health & Safety practices are maintained and monitored.
  • Prepare monthly reports on the status and operation of the department.
  • Liaise and communicate with external suppliers and internal clients.

REQUIREMENTS

 Ÿ       At least ten years experience in supply chain with extensive experience in a management role preferably in hospitality or gaming environments.

Ÿ       Demonstrated experience in sourcing techniques to provide cost savings while maintaining quality

Ÿ       Excellent business, financial and negotiating skills are required

Ÿ       Possess strong leadership and communication skills (both written and verbal)

Ÿ       Highly developed analytical thinking, understanding and application of logical or analytical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems

Ÿ       Bi-lingual in English and Cantonese is an advantage; a working knowledge of Mandarin would also be advantageous

Ÿ         Strong working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems

Ÿ         Knowledge of world class sourcing tools and experience implementing them
